Helen Jenkins Triumphs at the World Challenger London Triathlon

16/08/2010

Suunto Ambassador and 2008 world champion triathlete, Helen Jenkins raced to victory, scooping first place at the World Challenger London Triathlon. With an impressive time of 1 hour 2 minutes and 1 second, she beat off stiff competition from the other nineteen female elite athletes and led team mates Jodie Stimpson and Liz Blatchford to a British 1-2-3 finish.

The Welsh athlete, currently ranked 6th in the championship, trains with the stylish Suunto t6c Triathlon Pack – it offers a  selection of high-end sport instruments tailored for those competing at advance level. It provides accurate speed, distance and altitude readings, cadence for cycling, chest belt with in-built memory for recording heart rate in swimming, as well as detailed physiological analyses,  assisting  Helen in pinpointing exactly how hard her body is working to allow her to adapt her training accordingly.

Helen also has access to Movescount, the latest online community for all sports people. Movescount is free and provides useful tools to get inspired and get more out of your sport.

Fifty-five thousand spectators cheered on from the streets of London’s Docklands area as the athletes completed the gruelling 1500m swim, 40km cycle and 10km run. And it would seem competing in front of a home crowd must be Jenkins’ winning trick as this weekend’s success comes after her return to the podium at the ITU World Championship Series in Hyde Park just two weeks ago.

Helen commented, “I’m extremely pleased with my performance. It’s such a great achievement to retain my title as well as be part of an all-British podium.  I couldn’t have asked for a better result.”

Jenkins’ next race will be the penultimate of the ITU World Championship series in picturesque Kitzbühel, Austria on August 14.
