Which Suunto products are you using?

Suunto t6c Red Arrow, Foot POD, Road Bike POD, Cadence POD and Comfort Belt.

What’s the best thing about your Suunto?

It's not easy to say what's the best in my Suunto. But it's definitely my best training partner! I would emphasise all the bike functions. All the bike accessories are very important in my daily training. They let me know how my form is at the moment and how my performance is going, comparing all the info that I get with former training sessions. One of the keys of my bike training is the cadence, so I don't go out for a ride without my Cadence POD!

Most memorable sporting moments?

Probably my 2008 and 2010 victories at the ITU Triathlon World Championships. To be world champion was always my dream since I started in this sports and I worked really hard to get it. The dream first came true on a cold morning of June 2008 in Vancouver, Canada.

Story

In his thus far glittering career, Gomez has been World Champion twice, won numerous world cup and world championship series races and still has a promising future ahead of him.

Gomez won the ITU World Cup series in 2006 and 2007, and won the World Championships for the first time in Vancouver in 2008.

After an injury hampered his early season preparations and forced him to miss the first race, Gomez bounced back and won the 2010 ITU World Championship Series, which replaced the one-off World Championship race format in 2009.

He picked up victories in two WCS events during the 2010 season and his runner's up spot at the Grand Finale in Budapest was enough to secure the overall World Champion's title.

"The second championship feels even better than the first," Gomez said after the Budapest race. "I had to fight so hard for it today. I would have loved to win today's race as well, but winning the world title was the goal, so I couldn't be happier."

A fan of Suunto’s versatility, Gomez benefits from being able to measure his seven different body parameters, including Post-Exercise Oxygen Consumption (EPOC), Training Effect and heart rate when coupled with a Comfort Belt.

Self-definable displays on the t6c allow Gomez to easily switch his t6c between cycling and running during his racing or training and all Suunto products have replaceable batteries – invaluable for an athlete such as Gomez who trains regularly and for long periods.

This helps him avoid overtraining and fatigue, especially when the t6c is paired with Foot and Road Bike PODs, which enable him to measure speed and distance on one log file. Revolutions per minute are also recorded when hooked up with a Cadence POD.
