Celebrating Apa Sherpa’s unmatched 20 Mount Everest summits, Suunto launches a commemorative timepiece
In honor of the legendary mountaineer and Suunto Ambassador Apa Sherpa, Suunto launches a limited edition outdoor sports instrument, the Suunto Core Extreme Edition Everest. Celebrating Apa Sherpa’s world-record 20th summit of Mount Everest, the Core Extreme Edition Everest reflects the determination and strength of one of the world’s greatest living mountaineers.
“We’re happy to honor Apa with this limited edition Core,” says Petteri Hernelahti, Suunto Category Manager. “Apa Sherpa embodies the spirit of Suunto and we’re pleased to commemorate his historic world record with an amazing sports instrument.”
An addition to the award-winning Suunto Core collection, the Core Extreme Edition Everest is an essential partner and tool for hardcore outdoor enthusiasts. Complete with altimeter, barometer and compass functions, the Core helps users navigate through the wilder parts of the world.
As a limited edition, Suunto is producing only 8,848 pieces of the Extreme Edition Everest to match the elevation of Mount Everest’s peak at 8,848 meters.
Suunto recognizes and admires Apa Sherpa’s cause and work, and will donate a portion of all proceeds of Suunto Core Extreme Edition Everest to the Apa Sherpa Foundation to help support the education of the children living in the remote village near the base camp of Mount Everest.
The Suunto Core Extreme Edition Everest will be available in November at selected retailers.
