5/25/2011

Terra All Black premium sports watch joins the prestigious Elementum range

To celebrate its 75th anniversary, Suunto, a world’s leading designer of sports precision instruments, announces the new Suunto Elementum sports watch, the Suunto Elementum Terra All Black. Suunto Elementum sports watches are an exclusive collection of superbly crafted timepieces exclusively manufactured in Finland. These stylish, urban-inspired watches combine excellent craftsmanship with precision digital technology in a unique coalescence of function and form.

Suunto Elementum Terra All BlackThe new Suunto Elementum Terra All Black is equipped with all the essentials for survival in the outdoors, such as an altimeter for altitude measurement, barometer for easy prediction of weather changes, and compass for navigation. It provides all the information needed for confident, safe, and exciting exploration of the great outdoors.

“We are pleased to add a new member to the Elementum sports watch collection, which has been very well received in our global markets and gained recognition in the world’s most important global design competitions. Suunto is celebrating its 75th anniversary in 2011, and this new sports watch reflects the roots and heritage of our company by continuing the traditions of fine Finnish craftsmanship and giving clear guidance and direction, just like our first product, the march compass,” says Mikko Moilanen, President of Suunto.

The three watches that make up the collection – Elementum Aqua, Elementum Terra, and Elementum Ventus – are specifically designed for diving, mountaineering, and sailing respectively. The names directly translate to water, earth, and wind – the three elements that surround the activities the Suunto Elementum is inspired by and designed to help the user navigate through.

The Aqua detects when the user enters the water and automatically launches all the functions and measurements needed for a safe and enjoyable dive, such as depth, max depth, dive time, surface time, and water temperature. The Elementum Aqua is perfect for the user whose lifestyle combines stylish urban life and underwater adventure.

The Ventus is a highly sophisticated yet elegant sailing timepiece with impressive features that allow for predictions of upcoming weather, an advanced compass for navigation, and a sailing timer for the perfect race start. These make it a must-have extension to any sailor’s on-board equipment and a stylish addition to their on-shore lifestyle.

In 2010, the Suunto Elementum watch collection won both the prestigious red dot design award and the renowned iF design award.
