Red Bull X-Alps movie soars

The action-packed highlights of one of the world’s harshest and most thrilling endurance races, the Red Bull X-Alps 2007, can now be seen on suunto.com. Covering nearly 1,000 km from Austria to Monaco – over the backbone of the European Alps – racers pilot paragliders when they can or, if the weather is against them, hike grueling mountain trails to make this a race against time, conditions, and other athletes.

mont roca

The subterranean world of Mont Roca

The Mont Roca club has recently carried out a topographical study of the Chasm of the Smoke, a beautiful 150-meter deep in the mountain of Lugas, between Molina and Fortuna, in the Murcia region of Spain. The studies concentrated on comparing several shafts in the mountain, including investigations made in the Chasm of the Virgin, a nice cave with a palm tree and a fig tree inside and with an inner lake that connects with the sea after a 40-meter gallery. These geological measurements have been made using Suunto Tandem and Suunto X-Lander.

Top2Bottom

TOP2Bottom video featuring Manuel Bustelo

Versatile mountain biker Manuel Bustelo was part of the record-making Suunto team that raced in the first crazy-fast TOP2Bottom held in Ötztal, Austria in May 2007. The goal is to race from the top of the highest mountain to the bottom of the valley in the fastest and most direct way. Each athlete competes in their own specialty, making the race a true team effort.

Caban

The courage of Miro Caban

The ambitious Project 4-4-8 in which climbers attempted to ascend four 8,000 plus meter summits in only four months, without the use of oxygen, might have ended in defeat, but it wasn’t a failure. Leader Miroslav Caban and his team didn’t realize their goal this time, but they had the courage to keep trying against overwhelming odds.

Keller

Freefalling La Paz with Pat Keller

Since he was a boy, kayaker Pat Keller has been attracted by big rides on wild rivers. His accomplishments are as numerous as his injuries; most recently he won the long and short boat categories of the Green River Race, and dislocated his right shoulder riding motocross. This dramatic picture shows Pat making the largest freefalling waterfall descent on La Paz Falls in Costa Rica.
