  • Jarmila's Story

Since her childhood, Czech female freediver Jarmila Slovenčíková has spent her free time in the water. In the primary school, 1989-1993, she attended to the classical swimming, and in the high school she continued with fins swimming as well as with speed diving at the club KSP NEMO Zlín. In the autumn 2004 she began with freediving.

In 2007 Jarmila attended the World Championships in the swimming pool and also the World Championships in depth disciplines. In the swimming pool she won the 5th place in DYN (dynamic apnea with fins) by the result 164m, which is also a national record, and DNF (dynamic apnea without fins) by the result 119m. In the fall 2007 at the individual World Championships she won the Gold medal in CNF discipline (constant weight without fins) by swimming breaststroke into 50 meters depth. In CWT discipline (constant weight with fins) she reached 4th place by swimming into 61 meters. Both of these results are actual national records. Suunto D3 has helped her to make this success; she is using it in her training and in the competitions.

During her 3-year-career Jarmila has won 3 medals in the national championships. She has been successful at swimming pool competitions at home as well as abroad.
