Story

Hannu, tell us about yourself and your sporting background:

I am a 28 years old Nordic Combined skier from Rovaniemi, Finland. I was born here in Rovaniemi so I have lived my whole life up in the Arctic Circle. I am studying marketing in University of Lapland alongside my "profession". I have always been interested in sports. I have done a lot of different sports during my childhood, such as soccer, volleyball, Finnish baseball, athletics and so on. I have also been cross country skiing almost ever since I started walking. I got interested in ski jumping at the age of 9 so these two sports got together quite naturally. This is the way my career started.

What are the biggest moments of your life?

The biggest moment in my life was when I got married with my wife in July 2005. The biggest moments in my career were winning the Olympic gold medal in 2002 and winning my first World Cup overall victory in 2004.

What is your Suunto Experience?

My first Suunto experience is from the season 2004-2005 when we tested the chest belts during the Nordic combined World Cup competitions. I have had my own Suunto t6 since summer 2005. Ever since I got the Suunto t6 I have not thought of using any other possible device. With {Suunto Training Manager} it has been a perfect way to get information about my heart rate during my training and my competitions. It is actually very nicely designed and I wear it even when I am not training or competing.

Hannu's Main Achievements:

Four times overall World Cup victories in 2004-2007
World Champion in sprint and team 2007
Olympic Champion in team 2002
World Champion in team 1999

And the future goals:

Biggest goal in the future is to win an individual medal in World Championships or in the Olympic games.
