10 athletes - one goal - record time

One team of 10 Suunto athletes joined in Ötztal, Austria in May 2007 for the same goal:
Race from the top of the highest mountain to the bottom of the valley on the most direct way and do it as fast and crazy as possible.

The Athletes had to cover 3075 meters of altitude and 71 kilometres from the "Wildspitze", 3774 m (highest peak in the Alps in Ötztal) to the end of the valley (699 meters), where Ötz, one of the wildest rivers in the Central Europe runs into the Inn. Each athlete masters one leg, with own talents, with own style, with own philosophy.

All Athletes chose Suunto sports instruments to record their leg and finally the whole event. Fitting to their specific sport they used different Suunto models to record speed, distance, altitude, vertical speed, direction and finally their time. This precise information was integrated into the movie in order to bring the action even closer to you. Watch the video and see the time to beat for next years relay on a natural stage.

After the final rafting leg at 17.52 o'clock the whole team landed to the river bank, exhausted but proud! In the record time of 5 hours 2 minutes the first team ever made it - the way from the peak Wildspitze in Ötztal to the estuary of the Ötz with the pure muscle power and with the help of nature.

Congratulation to the team - next year the record time will be challenged by the new fearless hard core athletes - we stay online!
