How It All Started

In the beginning of the 1930's, civil engineer and championship-level orienteer Tuomas Vohlonen got fed up with the compasses of the day which had undamped needles that tended not to settle. This got Mr. Vohlonen thinking about whether a suitable liquid could be found to damp the movements of the needle. He was also dreaming of a compass that would be strong, light and simple to use.
