Finland's First "Heavy Diving" Lady
|
Annika Forsberg began diving a few years ago in Micronesia while working there as a mathematics teacher. She found an underwater paradise around Chuuk Island, whose lagoon is world famous for it's World War II wrecks.

Since then she has continued diving, but in slightly different surroundings. She continued her diving experiences in Finland; not like every body else but by attending a commercial divers course instead.
After finishing her first "lighter" commercial course she continued to the "heavy" one. The result is that she is the first ever woman to pass this kind of course in Finland.

If you saw her, you would not believe this small young lady could carry the load of diving equipment needed by commercial underwater construction workers. As a matter of fact the equipment she carries weights as much as she does! The equipment consists of an air helmet, Kirby Morgan band mask, drysuit etc (no normal mask, fins or snorkel) and of course the most important equipment like an underwater chainsaw, drill and welding accessories - Annika is specialized in welding!
Annika does not work as a professional diver (at least not yet) but she is studying to be an engineer. In the meantime she is working in Suunto´s R&D department testing Suunto's diving equipment. Annika, as well as the other Suunto test divers, are continuously testing currently available products like Stinger, Vytec and Vyper and of course the new products to come.
We at Suunto are proud to have Annika on our team.
