This year's race is held in Malaysian Sabah at the Northern tip of Borneo. The race course offers a wide angle view to Borneo nature. It includes everything from powdery white beaches and swelling waves of the South China Sea to tropical rain forests and to the thin air of the summit of Mt Kinabalu, the highest mountain in South East Asia.
The race consists of five stages on five days, featuring seven different sports. Mountain biking, kayaking, river rafting, running and mountaineering form the majority of the course.

Suunto is one of the partners of the MSOQ. To recognize the integral part of the MSOQ in the evolution of adventure racing, Suunto produced a limited edition of MSOQ branded Suunto Vector, another icon of adventure sports, to be given to all race participants.
When the start shot is fired on Oct 28, there will also be a Suunto team on the starting line. The team consists of two Suunto employees and two other Finnish top adventure racers. Terho Lahtinen works as product manager for our Cross Sports and Training products and is an avid adventure racer since seven years. Jukka Hartonen, Suunto's controller is former Olympic level Nordic skier and active runner with a 2.36 marathon this year. Elina Mäki-Rautila and Eero Jäppinen have a long list of merits in adventure racing, including Elina's world championship in 2002 with team Nokia Adventure.
