Sometimes You Play Like a Pro!

It was an early and sunny Friday morning. We had an early-bird tee time at 08:00 o'clock and I was playing La Cala Golf European course with my friend Mikko. We also had two players in the same group from Sweden. An international Finland-Sweden competition we thought!

The starter gave us some information about local rules and flag positions. He also gave us gps devices and tips on how to play that day. The course was brand new and very challenging.

As usual, on the first tee we proposed a gamble and asked if the Swedes liked to bet. We made a deal. The stakes were lunches for the winning team and we decided to play a bestball stroke game with handicaps. They got a 6 shot handicap for 18 holes.

The competition was pretty tight and the result after the 17th hole was even. They had an honor and they started the last hole. It was a par 4, 365 meter, index 7 downhill fairway with many bunkers. They reached the fairway and the distance to the pin was only about 100 meters. Now it was our go. I made a bunker but my friend got a great shot. Because of the bestball game type, we chose his ball. It was our moment to make a second shot. We succeeded in having another great shot and the ball was lying on the green. The distance to the hole was less than one meter. We made a birdie and they missed the green with two putts, a bogey.

The final statement of our opponents was, "Sometimes you guys play like pros!!"
