Suunto Production

At Suunto we understand production in the word's widest sense. We work hard to be able to provide high quality products that users are proud to wear in the hardest conditions and to fulfill the business needs of our channels. This includes managing a large, international network of parts suppliers, designing efficient production tools and methods, maintaining the factory to best quality standards, assembling and testing a wide range of Suunto products and assembling shipments according to customer orders.

The main Suunto factory is in Vantaa, Finland just north of the capital city Helsinki and close to the main airport. There are 190 professionals working in production, including direct and indirect labor. Many of our workers are watchmakers by profession, the perfect background for making state-of-the-art sports instruments for active athletes. Others have different relevant backgrounds, like electronics production or precision mechanics, but all are into details and committed to providing products that meet and exceed what users of sports instruments expect from their devices. Quality, flexibility and precision are our highest priorities.

Deliveries are made both directly from the manufacturing plant and through our distribution centers. We have distribution centers in Europe, the United States and Japan. The best logistics match for each customer is determined together when setting up the business relationship or when some changes that may benefit the business of both customer and Suunto are made.

Our suppliers can be found in Europe, Asia and north America, with most suppliers in Finland and China. Part of building a successful sports instrument is building up a reliable and proven chain of component suppliers. Materials Management is responsible for providing externally sourced goods and services at the right time, quality and cost as agreed with product programs and manufacturing. Our materials management is responsible for procurement, policies and processes in the supplier field. This allows Procurement to manage relations with suppliers, monitor their performance and drive corrective and improvement actions in close collaboration with design, R&D, manufacturing and quality.
