Final Tests Concluded

Last fall 140 Suunto and Amer Sports employees started a fitness program with the support of Suunto t6.

The fitness enthusiastics were tested by a walk-jog-run - test in which the exertion was gradually raised. On the first round every one walked, after one kilometre round the blood test was taken and the lap time saved, next round was jogged, again blood test taken, and the last third round was run with the maximal speed. Depending on the fitness level, the employee could run up to six kilometres.

Based on the results, every employee got a personal fitness program, and Suunto t6 device to help in training for the next six months. In the wintertime, active joggers had common training sessions, and also cross country skiing technique was brushed up.

In May, the moment of truth came, and the same bunch of people were tested again to reveal the improvement of the fitness level. The not-so-serious-minded competition was held for the participants, and the best men and women in the following categories were awarded: the fitness improvement, the highest maximal heart rate, the maximal lactate and the greatest decrease of the fat percentage.

Ms Sinikka Nieminen, the winner in the categories of fitness improvement and highest lactate level, tells, that she accepted no excuses for her training but really followed the fitness program given by sport physiologist Matti Jääskeläinen. "The brisk walking sessions became part of the every day life. No matter if it was raining or not, I went for walking, and really enjoyed it."

The fitness program continues with a new personal fitness program and new, enthusiastic employees have joined in.
