Suunto G6 and The Rules of Golf
|
Golf is more than 500 years old. The world's first golf club was founded more than 250 years ago. Introducing new technology and innovations usually doesn't match tradition. Suunto G6 is a high innovative product, that's why everybody at Suunto was waiting for the feedback from The R&A, St Andrews, Scotland. What would they say about Suunto G6?
Last week, just six days after the international launch at Turnberry, Scotland, the letter arrived. Marketing manager and Product manager couldn't wait and nearly torn it up!

For sure the paper letter is hand signed. But the most important detail is the following sentence:
"In any advertisements of this device (Suunto G6) you may state that The R&A has ruled that it does conform to the Rules of Golf." This ruling is given on the basis that the player does not access his swing parameters during the course of a stipulated round. Although the Suunto G6 records the player's score, it is not a substitute for returning a properly completed and signed score card as per Rule 6-6.
