Suunto Experience Story

An old mariner told two divers a story about sunken WWII barge that was lying in the bottom of the Gulf of Finland. Intrigued by the legend, two friends packed their diving equipment and head to the sea.

Suunto Observer provided weather data: good weather was expected for next 6 hours.

Reaching the estimated barge sunk position the excited divers put on their equipment, took a giant leap into the sea and checked bearings with their trusty Suunto SK-7 dive compass.
Sea was shallow. In the bottom Suunto Vyper dive computer showed only about 4 meter water depth. Taking bearings again underwater two treasure hunters started to swim a grid search pattern.
Incredible luck hit them after 15 minutes of diving: they found a place where sea floor was covered with broken bottles, pieces of barge hull and other items. Alas, everything was buried in very loose soft mud that encircled divers like a cloud of brown smoke. In complete blindness they had to relay completely on their Suunto dive instruments.

Suddenly the SK-7 needle showed a strange anomaly.

They found the treasure! Buried in the mud they found plates in excellent condition. An eagle, swastika and "1943" were print to the backside of the plates. It was the perfect experience!
Two friends could not believe their luck. Or was it luck? They never know why compass pointed them to the treasure...
