Kayaking in South Georgia and Japan
|
The 420 mile expedition was completed in 13 days making the three British men and one Israeli woman the fastest team in history to complete the epic adventure.
South Georgia lies at the heart of the South Atlantic and is 800 miles from the Falkland Islands. It has the roughest seas in the world and the circumnavigation is often described as 'the mount Everest of sea kayaking.' The team consisted of renowned kayakers Peter Bray (Captain), Jeff Allen and Nigel Dennis from the UK who were joined by Israeli kayaker Hadas Feldman.

Speaking after the completion of the expedition Peter Bray said: "The team has a number of kayaking records to be proud of but South Georgia is seen as the ultimate sea kayaking challenge due to the severe weather conditions and it is an honor to have conquered it."
The team has been using Suunto Vectors during their expeditions.

"2004 was the worst year in recorded history for typhoons hitting Japan, being able to use our Suunto Vectors to check on barometric changes became an hourly ritual during our circumnavigation of these amazing islands.
South Georgia has such extreme weather conditions we were always checking our Suunto watches for changes in barometric pressure. Katabatic winds on the northern coast of this Antarctic oasis are an extreme hazard to kayakers, winds can change from a force 2 to a force 9 in minutes", says Jeff Allen.
