Prestigious Fennia Prize recognises Suunto D9tx

Suunto has earned a prestigious Fennia Prize Honorary Mention for the stylish ocean-inspired design of the Suunto D9tx. The prize is aimed at encouraging firms to make “innovative and broad use of design in product development”.

Suunto has earned a prestigious Fennia Prize Honorary Mention for the stylish ocean-inspired design of the Suunto D9tx, the first wristop trimix dive computer. The prize is aimed at encouraging firms to make “innovative and broad use of design in product development”.

The Suunto D9tx is designed with the clarity and simplicity for which Suunto is renowned. Its intriguingly shaped bracelet is inspired by the wavy surface of the ocean; the frame’s side pieces are shaped like the outline of a dolphin’s nose while the titanium housing with scratch resistant sapphire glass form an ideal combination for diving.

CEO and President of Suunto, Mikko Moilanen, comments: “We’re thrilled to receive this recognition. We take great pride in producing premium dive computers that meet the high demands of both style and function. The Suunto D9tx is an elegant watch yet also an extremely advanced dive computer.”

The design award is the latest accolade for Suunto, the Finnish company that has been making dive computers, instruments and outdoor sports watches since 1936. Earlier this year Suunto was voted the best dive computer brand by readers of Tauchen magazine, one of Germany's largest diving magazines. The Suunto D9tx also received the DIVER Award 2011 for Product of the Year, based on a readers’ poll by British DIVER Magazine, as well as a coveted Red Dot award, one of the largest and most renowned product design awards in the world. International judges singled out the Suunto D9tx out of thousands of products for its innovation, functionality and quality.
