16 skiers, 24 hours, 1 million meters - a Guinness World Record® attempt powered by Suunto

11/30/2010

24h Salomon / Kronplatz challengeBetween 14th and 15th of January 2011, 16 skiers from the Plan de Corones area will try to enter the Guinness Book of World Records ®. Divided into four teams of four participants they will be engaged day and night in an exciting challenge. Three records to be broken: first is the group challenge where 16 skiers will try to exceed one million meters of altitude. The second challenge is put to work by four teams of four skiers in an attempt to exceed a total of 250,000 vertical meters per team. The last challenge will be individual where at least one of the 16 skiers will try to establish the new Guinness Book of Records ®.

The group is made up of ordinary people coming from three ski schools: the Kron, Plan De Corones and Cima. The team, sponsored by Salomon that will supply them 24h skis and boots, has already started training, of course during both day and night and is been followed in every phase of their preparation, from the diet all the way to mental preparations.

All the skiers are also using Suunto t6d’s that are following every moment of their training and during the race it will count the seconds that separate them from entering the pages of the history.
