Which watches produce the data that is included?
The watches that produce the data are Suunto T6, Suunto Ambit, Suunto Ambit2, Suunto Ambit3, Suunto Traverse and Suunto Spartan families.
The vertical metrics in trail running and mountain biking are available for products that have a barometric sensor i.e. Suunto Spartan Ultra, Suunto Ambit3 Peak, Suunto Ambit2 and Suunto Traverse.
Do moves made via the Suunto Movescount app count towards this data?
No, only moves made by the Suunto watches listed above qualify.
Can imported data be used for progress and personal bests? (i.e. Garmin Connect).
No, imported data is not used because we cannot verify the quality of the data.
What are the age groups?
The age groups in Movescount are organized in 5-year-groups between male and female – which are commonly used in endurance racing categories.
Why are the training volumes in the Training insights sometimes lower than I’d expect?
As many Suunto users are ‘multi-sporters', the training volumes in a given sport may be smaller than you would assume – i.e. running a sub-3 hour marathon time might show less running as athletes train in other sports, including cycling. This is typical for example with triathletes who have lot of training hours in cycling, a bit in swimming and some amount in running, but are still capable of fast marathons.
Why don’t I see training insights for longer running distances than a marathon?
There is not enough data of people running ultra distances to have a reliable indication on training loads or personal bests. This limitation applies to all of the sports and distances.
What if I pause during a move?
The pause is included in the personal best – i.e. if you pause during your 10K for 3 minutes, those 3 minutes are included in the personal best.
Does each move count for the personal bests?
No. The move needs to have enough (measurement) samples in order for the fastest or best sections to be identified. For example if the GPS reception has been poor, the move is not accepted into the metrics. Sections are identified by distance (i.e. 1km, 5km, 10km, etc).
Why did my level (ranking) suddenly drop?
As there are new moves coming to the database, your level might drop even if you haven’t done any moves in that sport. For example, if today you belong in the top 10% in 1K running, you might drop down to 20% as more people are achieving new personal bests.
How are triathlon and multi-sport moves analyzed?
Triathlon moves are only analyzed to identify the fastest time in triathlon – i.e. swimming, cycling and running are not identified from within the triathlon move. The same applies for other multi-sport moves. So if you ride your best 180km time in your ironman race, it doesn’t appear in personal bests in 180km cycling distance.
I deleted a personal best. What happens now?
When you delete a personal best, the next best value is shown. Deletion of the personal best will not analyze this same move for the same metric again. The move itself will remain.
What happens if I delete a move?
When a move is deleted, the personal best values from this move also get deleted.
Why does a personal best seem to be incorrect?
The personal best can be incorrect for example if you store a running session as a bike ride – or vise versa. However you can correct the personal best by editing the move and changing the activity to be the correct one.
