Why does Suunto app for Android not connect to my Suunto device?

The following troubleshooting steps may help solve connectivity issues for Suunto 3 Fitness, Suunto 9 and Suunto Spartan Collection watches. Try one step at a time and see if the problem was solved.

On your watch:

  1. Ensure your watch is close by and is awake by pressing the middle button.
  2. Ensure on your watch that Airplane mode is off (toggle is grey) and Discovery is on (toggle is green) check under Settings > Connectivity.


  3. Ensure Power saving is off (toggle is grey): check under Setting > General > Power saving. This applies for Suunto 9 only.


On your phone:

  1. Reset the Bluetooth connection: turn off your phone’s Bluetooth (either from your phone’s Bluetooth settings menu or in the quick settings), wait for a few seconds and turn it on again.
  2. If you have Suunto Movescount App installed on your phone, unpair your watch and uninstall the app:
    a. Forget your watch in Movescount App
    b. Forget your watch in the Bluetooth settings of your mobile device.
    c. Uninstall Movescount App from your phone

  3. Close Suunto app completely: open active apps and shut down the application. Restart the app.
  4. Restart your phone.
  5. Ensure you have the latest app version installed. Go to Google Play Store (Myapp or other) and check for available app updates.
  6. Ensure your watch uses the latest software. Connect your watch to SuuntoLink on your computer and check for available updates. Learn more about software updates for your product  and how to install the software on your watch.


In case the mentioned tips did not resolve the issue, reset the connection between your watch and the app: 

  1. Open Suunto app and tap the “watch” icon in the top corner to open the Watch view.

  2. Open the settings menu in the upper right corner and open Manage connection.

  3. Tap Forget.

  4. Open the Bluetooth settings in your phone’s settings menu.  Your watch will be listed under Available devices. Tap on the cog icon and select Unpair
  5. Turn off your phone’s Bluetooth.


    Restart your phone.
  7. Unpair Suunto app from your watch: Open Settings > Connectivity > Paired devices. If Mobile App is listed, select Forget.


    Restart pairing on your phone as if you would pair it for the first time.
