Why can’t I sync or pair my Suunto watch and Suunto app for iPhone?

Note: This article applies for Suunto 3 Fitness and Suunto Spartan Collection watches.

 

If you were able to connect your Suunto watch and Suunto app, but the connection is failing now, the following steps may resolve the issue:

 

Start with your watch:

  • Ensure Airplane mode is turned off: Settings > Connectivity > Airplane mode.
    Ensure airplane mode is toggled off.

  • Make sure Discovery is enabled: Settings > Connectivity > Discovery.
    Ensure discovery is enabled.

Verify on your phone:

  • Ensure you have the latest app version installed. Go to App Store and check for available app updates.
  • Check if Bluetooth is activated on your mobile phone.

 

Troubleshooting steps:

Verify after every step if the connection issue was resolved. If not proceed with the subsequent tips:

  1. Restart your mobile device.
  2. Reset the Bluetooth connection: Turn your phone’s Bluetooth off, wait for a few seconds and activate it again.
  3. Close Suunto app completely by double clicking the home button on the phone and shutting down the application. Restart the app.

In case the mentioned tips did not resolve the issue, reset the connection between your watch and the app:

  1. Open Suunto app and tap the “watch” icon in the top corner to open the watch view.

  2. Open the settings menu in the upper right corner and open Manage connection.

  3. Tap Forget.
     Forget watch from Suunto app.   

  4. Your watch will be listed under My devices. Tap on the blue info icon and select Forget This Device. Re-confirm by tapping Forget Device

  5. Make sure that Suunto App is unpaired from your watch: Open Settings > Connectivity > Paired devices. If Mobile App is listed, select Forget.
  6. Restart your mobile device.
  7. After this, pair your watch again as if you were connecting for the first time. Syncing and other actions should work as normal once pairing is completed.
