How do I get the most out of Suunto Vertical's battery modes?

On Suunto Vertical there are 4 pre-defined battery modes: Performance, Endurance, Ultra and Tour. You can also create a custom battery mode (note: this is particularly useful if you want to turn on touch display during the recording, as all default battery modes have it turned off by default. Custom battery modes are always sport mode specific, meaning you can define a different custom mode for every sport depending on your needs). Battery mode selection is memorized in the watch: the last battery mode you selected with a specific sport mode will be suggested to you the next time you launch that same sport mode.

When starting an exercise, Performance mode is activated by default. To switch mode, swipe down and go to “battery mode” in the options: when you select one, you will see the battery mode settings, also shown below:

NOTE: Suunto Vertical is the first Suunto watch offering users the possibility of using multi-band GNSS. Multi-band is activated when using “performance” mode, or “best” GPS accuracy in a custom battery mode. It also always uses all available GNSS systems (GPS, Galileo, GLONASS, Beidou).
Battery mode names and GPS accuracy definitions have been rescaled to reflect this. “Good” GPS accuracy/endurance mode in Suunto Vertical corresponds to “best” GPS accuracy/performance mode in Suunto 9 Peak Pro; “OK” GPS accuracy/ultra mode in Suunto Vertical corresponds to “Good” GPS accuracy/endurance mode in Suunto 9 Peak Pro. With Suunto Vertical, you can therefore activate navigation in performance, endurance and even ultra battery mode.

NOTE: Using maps will significantly increase battery consumption, resulting in shorter battery life compared to the values shown above.

NOTE: on Solar models, solar energy will recharge the watch while in use, increasing the battery life compared to the values shown above (the impact of solar depends on location, exposure, and weather conditions).
