For greater transparency, we’ve calculated a category-level carbon footprint for selected field compass models, representing the average climate impact of a compass in this category.

According to a category-level Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) of Suunto field compasses*, one compass in this category creates on average 1.3 kg CO₂e emissions during its whole lifespan. 1.3 kg CO₂e equals to, for example, driving a fossil fuel car for 8 kilometers.
We have fully offset the lifespan emissions of all compasses in this category with Verified Carbon Units.

Suunto factory, where Suunto compasses are made, is located in Vantaa, Finland. Here we use 100% renewable, carbon neutral energy in all our operations. This is a key factor in enabling the Suunto compass to achieve a small carbon footprint of 1.3 kg CO₂e* over its full lifespan.

We offset the lifetime CO₂e emissions of each sold Suunto compass* with Verified Carbon Units via Tree-Nation. The offset is done in a reforestation project in Southeast Africa that plants trees, protects biodiversity, and supports local communities in creating sustainable livelihoods.
