New ownership broadens Suunto’s shoulders in developing fit-for-purpose outdoor products

Sports — 10 enero 2022

Vantaa, Finland, January 10, 2022. Suunto’s mother company Amer Sports and Liesheng − a leading Chinese technology company focusing on the smart & sport wearables electronics segment − have agreed on a transaction by which Amer Sports sells Suunto to Liesheng. The transaction has been signed and it’s expected to close in H1 2022.

Founded in Guangdong, China in 2015, Liesheng is an innovative global consumer-electronics company with its products being sold in more than 100 countries around the world. It is ranked top globally in the wireless audio field and has successfully developed the consumer electronics brand Haylou.

“For you as a fan, community member and user of Suunto this change is actually not a change at all. Suunto brand and our products and digital services, watch update frequency, data protection practices, customer support and service – all of these and more continue normally”, says Heikki Norta, Suunto Brand President. “We stay committed and focused on developing our high-end products, inspiring adventurous lifestyle and on protecting our playground. Liesheng has indicated that Suunto will continue to run its operations from Vantaa, Finland.”

“In the long run, partnering with our new owners will broaden our shoulders in the continued development of new fit-for-purpose products for the outdoor enthusiasts”, Heikki Norta continues.

“During the past 22 years Amer Sports has offered Suunto a family of like-minded brands and an opportunity for the 85-year-old Finnish adventure brand to grow globally. I’m excited to start now the next phase of our journey and join forces with Liesheng. We make a great fit as our operations, markets and products complement each other”, Heikki Norta concludes.
