Press release 02 August 2019
Cross-border Commerce Europe has listed Europe's Top 500 online commerce sites in their annual TOP 500 CROSS-BORDER RETAIL EUROPE research. The research focused on cross-border e-commerce. In 2018, the EU cross-border e-commerce market represented a turnover of € 95 billion (excluding travel). The aim of the research is to provide up-to-date information and stimulate cross-border e-commerce in the European Union.
Only one e-commerce retailer from Finland was ranked among the Top50 retailers: Suunto.com was ranked Top20 leaving behind many European e-commerce giants. In addition, two other e-commerce retailers from Sweden and five from Denmark were ranked among the Top50 from the other Nordic countries.
“Hard work with our knowledgeable top team and partners has brought the fantastic results. The research emphasized a great mix of various e-commerce site parameters such as search engine optimization, variety of payment methods, local supply availability and amount of cross-border visitors. After the research, we have just doubled the number of delivery countries in our e-commerce to nearly 40 countries and raised the site traffic to a new level, so it will be interesting to see the same research results again next time.” says Petri Koistila, Global Head of Digital Marketing from Suunto.
