What type of files can I export from the Suunto app?

The Suunto app is a versatile app that allows you to import and export information and connect with partner services to access all the training communities you might belong to.

Types of files:

When you export your workout information, make sure you export the correct format. They contain various types of data that might be important to you. You can export your training or parts of your training in the following formats:

  • Export your training as GPX.

A workout in a GPX format is a file including both location and time information from your workout (and, where available, heart rate data). Workouts in .gpx format can be imported to various services, but don’t contain all the information available in the Suunto app.

  • Export your route as GPX.

A route in a GPX format is a file including only the location information from your workout. It is the track of your workout. Routes in .gpx format can be imported to various services to be used as navigation guidance. You can export a route from a workout or directly from the route gallery in the app.

  • Export your training as a FIT file.

A workout in a FIT format is a file including all the relevant information from your workout: location, time, timestamps, heart rate, power, cadence, etc. They are the preferred format for workout export and use in different services.

How to export the files:

To export the information, go to any of your workouts available in the Suunto app, and in the top right corner, tap the three dots. Select the format you want to export the information in and save the file either on your device or directly open it in a compatible app.

iOS:

Android:

Note: exercise recordings without GPS will not have the possibility of exporting GPX files, only FIT files.
