How do I change the straps of my Suunto watch?

Getting started:

This article will offer you step-by-step instructions and how-to videos on how to change the strap of your Suunto watch. You are able to find the exact model of your watch on the back of the device. In case your watch model is not listed, please visit a Suunto Service Center to get your strap changed.

You can always find suitable accessories and spare part straps for your device by filtering or searching by product name on our Accessory & Spare parts page. You can check the strap compatibility while filtering the products on the page.

Note: Any device damage that happens during an unauthorized strap change is not covered by Suunto International Limited Warranty.

Change a quick-release strap:

Tools: Straps with quick-release mechanisms are easy to change without any additional tools.

To detach a strap from the watch:

    1. Turn the watch upside down.
    2. Pull the small pin of the spring bar towards the middle of the strap to release the spring from its socket.
    3. Remove the strap.

To attach a new strap to the watch:

    1. Insert the pin on the opposite end of the spring mechanism into its socket on the watch body.
    2. Pull the pin towards the middle of the strap to retract the free end of the spring bar.
    3. Slip the strap into place and release the pin.

Ensure the strap is in place by checking that the pin goes all the way into the pinhole and by pulling the strap gently.

Change an integrated with 1.5 mm spring bar strap:

Tools: A basic watch repair kit.
Note: The strap cannot be detached easily from the watch body without the appropriate tools. To avoid possible injuries or damage to the product, we recommend visiting a local Suunto Service Center or a close-by watch store to perform the change.

To detach a strap from the watch body:

    1. Turn the watch upside down.
    2. Locate the small spring bar openings.
    3. Slide the fork end of the spring bar tool between the strap and lug and pry the spring bar from the side facing the watch case towards the centerline of the strap.
    4. Gently push the strap towards you with your other hand to free the spring bar from the hole.
    5. Remove the strap.

To attach a new integrated strap:

    1. Insert one spring bar end into one lug hole on the watch.
    2. Hold the other spring bar end against the opposite lug, approximately in the place where the hole is.
    3. Pry the spring bar with the flat side of the spring bar tool against the strap until the end of the spring bar slides down inside the lug.

Ensure the strap is in place by pulling the strap gently.
